Etymology
[edit]Verbal phrase, composed of 気 (ki, “mood, spirit, mind, feelings”) + が (ga, subject particle) + 違う (chigau, “to be different; to be abnormal”).[1]
First attested in works from the late Muromachi period (1336–1573).[1]
This term appears to be rare in modern usage, and it is not included in some dictionaries.[2][3][4]
