Etymology
[edit]大君, 王, 王女 (ōkimi, “non-親王 (shinnō)/内親王 (naishinnō) princes and princesses”) + の (genitive marker) + 司 (“department”). Alternatively, 諸王 (ōkindachi, “non-親王 (shinnō)/内親王 (naishinnō) princes and princesses”) + の + 司. The kanji spelling literally reads "Department of Legitimate Relatives". See also 正親町 (Ōgimachi).
Proper noun
[edit]正親司 or 正親司 • (Ōkimi no Tsukasa or Ōkindachi no Tsukasa)
- (history, government) a 律令 (Ritsuryō) department under the 宮内省 (Kunaishō, “Ministry of the Imperial Household”), responsible for managing nametags, stipends and clothing for the Emperor's relatives down from the second to the fourth generation (only including 王 (ō) and 女王 (joō), excluding 親王 (shinnō) and 内親王 (naishinnō))
