Etymology
[edit]The region that is now northern Aichi prefecture was originally called 春部郡 (Kasukabe-gun); compare 春日部 (Kasukabe). In 1880 it was divided into 東春日井・西春日井, East Kasugai and West Kasugai. Compare also Old Japanese 春日 (Kasuga). (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
