Etymology

The 連用形 (ren'yōkei, stem or continuative form) of verb 吹雪く (fubuku, to blow violently (said of wind); to blow a snowstorm).[1][2][3]

The kanji spelling is jukujikun (熟字訓), borrowed from Chinese 吹雪 (chuīxuě).
