Etymology

Wasei eigo (和製英語; pseudo-anglicism), derived from wooper +‎ looper, as a substitution for アホロートル (ahorōtoru, axolotl) which is a homophone with 阿呆老頭児 (aho rōtoru, literally stupid old fart).
