[edit]Stem ἀγωνισ- from verb ἀγωνίζομαι (agōnízomai) + -τικός (-tikós), from ᾰ̓γών (ăgṓn, “competition”).[1] Morphologically, ἀγωνιστ(ής) (agōnist(ḗs), “combatant, competitor”) + -ικός (-ikós).
