[edit]Probably related to წიპი (ǯip̌i, “alevin, young fish”). Akin to Georgian წიპწიპა (c̣iṗc̣iṗa), Imeretian and Rachan Georgian წიპია (c̣iṗia, “turkey's chick”) and Mingrelian წიპა (c̣iṗa, “small”).
