Old Georgian

Etymology

According to Ḳelauraʒe, from *ქერ-ქერ- (*ker-ker-), by reduplication of *ქერ- (*ker-), from Proto-Georgian-Zan *ker-, whence also ქერქელა (kerkela, “shell, pod”), ქექერ (keker, “leather”), ქენქერი (kenkeri, “hard, firm”). Cognate with Laz ქაქარა (kakara, “firm, dry, hardened”).
