[edit]From Khmer ស្លាក (slaak, “label; ticket; lottery ticket; etc”), from Pali salākā (“ticket; coupon; etc”). Compare Sanskrit शलाका (śalākā), and compare Khmer ឆ្លាក (chlaak), from which Thai ฉลาก (chà-làak) is derived.
