[edit]From Sanskrit भूतपति (bhūtapati, literally “chief of demons; chief of beings”), from भूत (bhūta, “demon; being, creature”) + पति (pati, “chief; lord; master”); equivalent to Thai ภูต (pûut) + บดี (bɔɔ-dii).
