[edit]From ทศ (tót, “ten”) + กัณฐ์ (“throat; neck”); literally "ten necks" or "ten-necked"; ultimately made from Sanskrit दश (daśa, “ten”) and कण्ठ (kaṇṭha, “neck”). Compare with Telugu దశకంఠుడు (daśakaṇṭhuḍu) and Burmese ဒဿဂီရိ (da.ssa.giri.).
