[edit]From Sanskrit दशकण्ठ (daśakaṇṭha, “ten-throated”) (दश (daśa, “ten”) + कण्ठ (kaṇṭha, “throat”)) + -డు (-ḍu). Compare with Thai ทศกัณฐ์ (tót-sà-gan).
