[edit]From Angkorian Old Khmer citta, cita (“mind; spirit; heart; feeling; will; thought; opinion; aim; intention; wish”), from Sanskrit चित्त (citta, “observed, perceived; considered, reflected or mediated upon; heart (considered as the seat of intellect), mind; etc.”) or Pali citta (“heart (psychologically); mind”); compare Modern Khmer ចិត្ត (cət). Cognate with Lao ຈິດ (chit), Lü ᦈᦲᧆ (ṫsiid).
