[edit]Inherited from Old Gujarati वाणीउ (vāṇīu), वाणीडु (vāṇīḍu), from Prakrit 𑀯𑀸𑀡𑀺𑀅𑀬 (vāṇiaya), from Sanskrit वाणिज (vāṇijá), from वणिज् (vaṇíj, “merchant, trader”).
