[edit]Inherited from Old Gujarati धूय (dhūya), from Prakrit 𑀥𑀽𑀆 (dhūā), from Sanskrit दुहितृ (duhitṛ). Doublet of દુખ્તર (dukhtar), ધૂતા (dhūtā), and ધી (dhī). Cognate with Punjabi ਧੀ (dhī), Hindi धिया (dhiyā), Konkani धूव (dhūv).
