Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit दर्दुर (dardura, “frog”), from imitative Proto-Indo-European root *dard-. Doublet of દાદુર (dādur) and દાદુરું (dādurũ). Cognate with Hindustani دادر / दादुर (dādur). Wider cognates include Lithuanian dardė́ti (“to rattle”), Welsh godyrddu (“to mumble”).[1][2]
