[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀉𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀭𑀤𑀺 (uttaradi), from Sanskrit उत्तरति (uttarati, “to alight, descend”). Cognate with Kachchi ઔત્તરણૂ (auttarṇū).
