[edit]Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀩𑀺𑀮 (bila), from Sanskrit बिल (bíla, “hole”). Compare Sylheti ꠛꠤꠟ (bil), Bengali বিল (bil, “marshy hollow”), Hindi बिल (bil, “hole of mouse or rat”).
