[edit]Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀢𑀺𑀕𑁆𑀕 (tigga), from Sanskrit তিগ্ম (tigma, “sharp, pungent, hot”), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *tigmás, from Proto-Indo-European *(s)tig-mó-s, from *(s)teyg- (“to be sharp, pointed”). Cognate with Bengali টেঙ্গা (ṭeṅga) and Kamta টেঙা (teṅa).
