[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀓𑁄𑀇𑀮𑀸 (koilā) (re-Sanskritized as Sanskrit कोकिल (kokila)), from Proto-Munda *ko(y)ila (compare Santali ᱠᱩᱤᱞᱚ (kuilô)). Cognate with Assamese কয়লা (koyola), Odia କୋଇଲା (koilā), Bihari कोएला (koelā), Hindi कोइला (koilā), Marwari कोइलो (koilo), Gujarati કૉયલૉ (kŏyalŏ), Punjabi ਕੋਇਲਾ (koilā), Sindhi کوءِلو (koilo).
