[edit]From Sanskrit *উৎশ্ৱাস (utśvāsa), from Proto-Indo-European *ḱʷes- (“to pant, puff, sigh”). Related to Latin queror, Sanskrit श्वास (śvāsá). Cognate with English quarrel, Pashto ساه (sāh, “breath, blow, puff, soul, spirit, essence”), Baluchi ساہ (sáh, “breath, blow, essence”).
