[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit অমৃত (amṛta), from অ- (a-, “not, im-, un-”) + মৃত (mṛtá, “dead”), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *amŕ̥tas, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *amŕ̥tas, from Proto-Indo-European *n̥mr̥tós. Cognate with Odia ଅମିଅ (amia, “sweet”), Gujarati અમી (amī). Doublet of অমৃত (omrit).
