Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *stew- (“to praise”). Cognate with Persian ستودن (setudan, “to praise, extol”), Ancient Greek στεῦται (steûtai, “to promise or threaten that one will”), Hittite [script needed] (istuwa-, “to become public”).
