[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀲𑀫𑀺𑀅 (samia, “kind of food”), 𑀲𑀫𑀺𑀆 (samiā, “wheat flour”), from Sanskrit शमिता (śamitā, “rice powder”), समिता (samitā, “wheat flour”).[1] Compare the later Sanskrit सेविका (sevikā, “sevai”).
