Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀲𑀁𑀢𑀸𑀯𑁂𑀇 (saṃtāvei), from Sanskrit संतापयति (saṃtāpayati). Compare Gujarati સતાવવું (satāvvũ), Hindustani سَتانا (satānā) / सताना (satānā), Sindhi سَندائِڻُ / संदाइणु, Punjabi ਸਤਾਉਣਾ (satāuṇā) / سَتاؤݨا (satā'oṇā), Nepali सताउनु (satāunu), Maithili सताएब (satāēb) / 𑒮𑒞𑒰𑒋𑒥 (satāēba), Odia ସନ୍ତାଇବା (santāibā).
