Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *saȷ́áwšas (“like-minded, accordant, having the same wish”), from Proto-Indo-European *ǵews- (“to like”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬵𐬀𐬰𐬀𐬊𐬱𐬀 (hazaoša, “like-minded; having the same desire”). Synchronically analysable as स (sa, “same, together”) + जोष (joṣa, “liking, pleasure, taste”). Also see सजोष (sajóṣa).
