[edit]Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀮𑀁𑀟 (*laṃḍa) (compare Old Marathi 𑘩𑘰𑘽𑘚𑘹𑘢𑘜 (lāṃḍepaṇa, “the state of having lost one's feathers”), Maharastri Prakrit 𑀮𑀁𑀟𑀼𑀅 (laṃḍua)). Related to लंड (laṇḍa). Compare Hindi लाँड़ा (lā̃ṛā), Sindhi لُنڊو / लुंडो, Punjabi ਲੰਡਾ (laṇḍā) / لَنڈا (lanḍā), Odia ଲଣ୍ଡା (laṇḍā).
