[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀭𑀸𑀟𑀺 (rāḍi, “shouting; battle”), from Sanskrit राटि (rāṭi, “war, battle”), from the root रट् (raṭ, “to howl, yell, cry; to crash (an axe)”). Compare Punjabi ਰਾਡ਼ (rāṛ), ਰਾਰ (rār), Nepali राड़ो (rāṛo) and Gujarati રાડ઼ (rāṛ).
