Etymology

    Inherited from Old Gujarati राषिवउं (rāṣivaüṃ /⁠rāṣivaüṃ⁠/), from Apabhramsa 𑖨𑖎𑖿𑖏𑖂 (rakkhaï), from Prakrit रक्खइ (rakkhaï), from Sanskrit रक्ष॑ति (rákṣati).[1] Cognate with Middle Bengali রাখ (rakh).
