    Inherited from Old Gujarati राषिवउं (rāṣivaüṃ /⁠rākhivaüṃ⁠/), from Apabhramsa 𑖨𑖎𑖿𑖏𑖂 (rakkhaï), from Prakrit रक्खइ (rakkhaï), from Sanskrit रक्ष॑ति (rákṣati).[1]
