Etymology
[edit]Thought to be from a substrate language, might be a borrowing from Proto-Dravidian *mel-Vkku. Possibly related to Akkadian 𒈨𒈛𒄩𒆠 (Me-luḫ-ḫa) or Sumerian 𒈨𒈛𒄩𒆠 (Me-luh-haKI /Melukhkha, Meluḫḫa/).
