Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘥𑘰𑘄𑘕𑘰𑘃 (bhāujāī), from Prakrit 𑀪𑀸𑀉𑀚𑀸𑀬𑀸 (bhāujāyā) / भाउजाय़ा / ಭಾಉಜಾಯ಼ಾ (bhāujāẏā), 𑀪𑀸𑀉𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀸𑀇𑀬𑀸 (bhāujjāiyā) / भाउज्जाइय़ा / ಭಾಉಜ್ಜಾಇಯ಼ಾ (bhāujjāiẏā), from Sanskrit भ्रातुर्जाया (bhrāturjāyā).
