Etymology

Hindi verb set
निपटना (nipaṭnā)
निपटाना (nipṭānā)
निपटवाना (nipaṭvānā)

Inherited from Prakrit 𑀡𑀺𑀯𑀝𑁆𑀝𑀇 (ṇivaṭṭaï), 𑀡𑀺𑀯𑀝𑁆𑀝𑁂𑀇 (ṇivaṭṭei), from Sanskrit निर्वर्तते (nirvartate).[1] Cognate with Marathi निवडणें (nivaḍṇẽ).

Hoernlé suggests the Prakrit form is from Sanskrit निष्पत्ति (niṣpatti, going forth), but this is semantically difficult.[2]
