Etymology

Probably inherited from Sanskrit नागपुर (nāgapura), from नाग (nāga, snake) +‎ पुर (pura, city), named for the local Nagavanshi Kshatriyas. By surface analysis, नाग (nāg) +‎ -और (-aur).
