Inherited from Sanskrit जम्भ (jámbha) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ȷ́ámbʰas, from Proto-Indo-European *ǵómbʰos.[1] Cognate with Hindustani جَبْڑَا (jabṛā) / जबड़ा (jabṛā).
