Etymology
[edit]From the root ग्लै (glai, “to be weary, to be reluctant, to feel averse”), from Proto-Indo-European *gʷelH- (“to suffer”). Cognate with Lithuanian gėlà (“pain”), Proto-Germanic *kwelaną (“to suffer”), Old Irish at-baill (“to die”).
