Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘎𑘻𑘛 (koḍha) (compare 𑘎𑘻𑘚𑘲𑘧𑘰 (koḍīyā), 𑘎𑘻𑘛𑘲 (koḍhī)), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀓𑁄𑀠 (koḍha), from Sanskrit कोठ (koṭha).
