[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian قواعد (qawā'id), from Arabic قَوَاعِد (qawāʕid), plural of قَاعِدَة (qāʕida). Related to कायदा (kāydā). Compare Gujarati કવાયત (kavāyat), Hindustani قَوَاعِد (qavā'id) / क़वायद (qavāyad), Kannada ಕವಾಯತು (kavāyatu), Telugu కవాతు (kavātu), Sindhi قَوَاعِدُ / क़वाइद, Punjabi ਕਵਾਇਦ (kavāida) / قَواعد (qauā‘d).
