[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian قواعد (qawā'id), from Arabic قَوَاعِد (qawāʕid), plural of قَاعِدَة (qāʕida). Related to ಕಾಯ್ದೆ (kāyde). Compare Marathi कवाईत (kavāīt), Telugu కవాతు (kavātu).
