Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘄𑘦𑘩𑘜𑘹 (umalaṇe), from Prakrit 𑀉𑀫𑁆𑀫𑀺𑀮𑁆𑀮𑀇 (ummillaï) (compare Sanskrit उन्मीलयति (unmīlayati), उन्मीलति (unmīlati)). Compare Varhadi उमयनं (umayna), Ahirani उमलनं (umalna), उमयनं (umayna), Gujarati ઊમલવું (ūmalvũ), Hindi उमेलना (umelnā), Odia ମେଲିବା (melibā), Bengali মেলা (mela), Assamese মেলা (mela).
