Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hanguri-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eng-ul- (“joint?”), *h₂engulos, from *h₂eng-, *ang- (“corner, hirn”). Cognates include Latin angulus (“corner, angle”), Old High German enchil (“ankle, joint”) and Old Church Slavonic ѫгълъ (ǫgŭlŭ, “angle”).
