Inherited from Kasmiri Apabhramsa 𑆃𑆁𑆓𑆶𑆬𑆵 (aṃgulī), from Prakrit 𑀅𑀁𑀕𑀼𑀮𑀻 (aṃgulī), 𑀅𑀁𑀕𑀼𑀮𑀺 (aṃguli), from Sanskrit अङ्गुलि (áṅgúli).
