From Aramaic תּוּתָא (tūṯā, mulberry), from Akkadian 𒄑𒌅𒌓𒌈 (tuttu), likely borrowed from an Iranian language; compare Hebrew תּוּת (tút), Arabic تُوت (tūt) and Persian توت (tut).
