From Aramaic לֵקְנָא (leqənā), from Ancient Greek λεκάνη (lekánē, “dish, basin”) and Akkadian 𒆷𒄩𒉡 (laḫannu, “flask; bottle of clay, glass or metal”); compare Arabic لَكَن (lakan).
