From Aramaic כּוּרְסְיָא (kursəyā), from Akkadian 𒄑𒄖𒍝 (kussûm), from Sumerian 𒄑𒄖𒍝 (g̃ešgu-za /⁠guza⁠/); compare Arabic كُرْسِيّ (kursiyy), Hebrew כִּסֵּא (kisé), and Ugaritic 𐎋𐎒𐎜 (ksủ /⁠kussīʾu⁠/).
