[edit]From Aramaic חְזִירָן (ḥzīrān), from חְזִירָא (ḥzīrā’, “boar”), by association of Sirius, which rises in the summer, with the boar-god Ninurta; compare also borrowed into Arabic حَزِيرَان (ḥazīrān). Compare ܚܙܘܼܪܵܐ (ḥzūrā, “pig”).
