[edit]From the root ܚ-ܫ-ܒ (ḥ-š-b) related to thinking. Compare Arabic حِسَاب (ḥisāb) and Hebrew חִשּׁוּב (ḥiššûḇ). The sense of "implication" is a calque of Arabic ضَمِير الشَّأْن وَالْقِصَّة (ḍamīr aš-šaʔn wa-l-qiṣṣa).
