[edit]Etymology
[edit]From the root ܕ-ܒ-ܩ (d-b-q) related to adhering; compare Hebrew דָּבִיק (dāḇîq), דָּבוּק (dāḇûq). The sense of "intransitive" is a calque of Arabic لَازِم (lāzim) while the sense of "conjunctive noun" is a calque of Arabic مَوْصُول (mawṣūl).
