[edit]Probably Borrowed from Persian گردباد. The shift in consonants can be owed to being linked to the verb ܓܵܪܸܕ݂ (gāriḏ, “to scrape”) and ܒܘܼܠܹ̈ܐ (būlē, “ears of corn”) through folk etymology, Literally, “scraper of ears of corn”.
