[edit]From Parthian 𐭀𐭇𐭌𐭓𐭊𐭓 (ʾḥmrkr [ahmārkar]) or Middle Persian 𐭠𐭬𐭠𐭫𐭪𐭫𐭩 (ʾmʾlkly [āmārgar]), from Old Persian *hammārakarah; compare Hebrew אֲמַרְכָּל (ʾămarkāl).
